Hi
I have a PC running XP - it's about 5 yrs old - is there an 'easy' way to find out if it will run a wireless broadband connection?
Cheers

There should be no problem - recommend you get a branded Wireless PCI card (Linksys/DLink) for better support and forum help
and also wireless router for your telephone line (assuming you have a BT line)
Total rough cost is £20 (PCI card) + £50 (Wireless router)
Cheers

many isp providers give you a free router and usb wireless thingy anyway, your computer will be fine, mind you they often say to plug in your modem/router directly with a LAN cable for the first computer, depends how close you are to the box, no point in going wireless when your box is only 2 feet away, but that's up to you. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

My machine is about 5yrs old too & I've got a wireless router plugged in downstairs & a usb wireless dongle plugged in here, works perfectly 99% of the time.
As long as your machine can handle Windows XP you're laughing.Winnings

My daughters pc is also about 5 yrs old (XP Home) and it is perfectly fine connecting to my D Link wireless router using the D Link wireless usb "dongle". It was only necessary to use the "dongle" set up software cd on the pc. That pc has usb1 which doesn't seem to affect things much either.
I also installed a wireless card (£2.99 off fleabay) to another similar pc using one of the spare PCI slots. That works fine too. Had to install correct driver from included cd.0
