Declined for credit

Options
Hi all,
I've recently tried to take out a new phone contract with iD mobile (car phone warehouse brand) and was declined by their credit check.
Around a year ago I had the same issue with car insurance, meaning I had to pay my annual premium upfront (more than a minor inconvenience at the time!).

My credit score, according to experian is 995/999, and I also have a bank loan (on the lowest interest rate they could offer), and have been been accepted for finance on various other items (household stuff).

I can't see why my credit rating elsewhere would be anything less than squeaky clean, other than the fact I had a letter around 18 months ago saying that Equifax had lost some of my data. At the time I couldn't get hold of them with the number they gave me and I'm really at a loss with what's happening.

Does anyone have a fix for this or any advice to go forward from this situation?

Thanks! Matt

Starting on the basis that your credit score is no guide to your credit worthiness, have you looked at the content of your three credit files?

Check all three and see what appears.

I thought credit score was the entire basis of how worthy you are in the eyes of a lender, but I will indeed try to look into it now! Thanks for the quick response!

The scores are just a gimmick that only you see.

They have no relevance to credit or lending.

A bankrupt could have a 999 score. Ignore it as all lenders do, they look at your credit history and affordablilty and each lender has their own risk profile.

Found the issue, a discrepancy I had with a different phone company almost 6 years ago

    Thanks for the help!
