I cannot rotate

My car has TPS fitted and the car even has a reminder to rotate the tyres after 6000 miles (you can turn it off). I had them done at the first service but not bothered since then. Tyres are now 4 years old, around 34000 miles and are the originals since the car was new
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I know a couple of people who do but they're the sort of people who wear driving gloves and have opinions on the merits of double declutching.;)lincroft1710 wrote: »In 50 years of driving, I've never rotated the tyres. Can't think of anyone who did rotate their tyres.

You obviously never read the handbook then. In "the old days" before the advent of directional tyres the majority of car handbooks had a diagram of the complex front right to rear left etc wheel swap game you were supposed to do, garages would do it as part of a service. .
I can (vaguely) remember that from my Dad's cars when I was a kid, but not from any of the many new cars I've had since 1977. Why do you suppose they stopped advising it?
BTW directional tyres are much more recent, and irrelevant.0 -

I used to do it on the works van i drove ( and serviced ) only problem is you need 4 new tyres instead of 2,have never worn driving gloves but my dad taught me to drive back in 1967 and double de-clutching was an advantage when shifting down the box, still do sometimes even today as it does no harm and reduces the neck snapping movements if you drop down a gear to fast.:rotfl:0 -
Before my MOT I asked the garage to rotate my tyres. It's a new to me car with some fancy wotnottery that beeps at you when the tyre pressure is too low.
He umms and aahs about sensors and points to a thing dangling near his desk and says - "Does it have these inside the tyres?"
How the hell do I know what it has inside the tyres?
When I went to pick up he said he couldn't rotate the tyres because of the tyre pressure management sensors in the tyres meaning he can't switch them around, so the front ones are wearing out faster still.
What on earth? I presume I am allowed to actually change the tyres at some point, so why can't the garage rotate them?
On the Almera I could change tyres around freely and what with the spare I had 5 different brands all going around eking out every last bit of tread.
I'm surprised you've not blamed it on Brexit:rotfl:Official MR B fan club,dont go............................0 -

I swap my fronts left to right every year to even out the wear due to it being a mainly in town car. New tyres always go on the back as well so that the old tyres get worn out before they life out as well as adhering to tyre manufacturer's recommendations.
Anyway, back to the OP. Is there not a button you press to reset the tyre sensors, my car has it in the menu.
Oh I read the handbooks, but just ignored that part of them.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
