Castrol Oil grade question
Been advised to put in Castrol Magnatec 5w / 30 (full synthetic) into my engine.
So, in Halfords has castrol mag 5/30 A5
Other supplies has castrol mag 5/30 C2
So what is the difference between the A5 and C2, and does it matter which I choose?
I see their is also Catrol Edge, but it is much more expensive.
Car is a Peugeot 1.6 HDI Diesel, no dpf.
Why is oil so confusing these days?

Check the Castrol website, oil selector, all the info is there.0

For Diesel engines you need the C2.
A5 is for Petrol.0 -

For non DPF diesels it does matter if it’s low ash or not, so either is fine.0

I have personally found that Castrol oil "finder" to be incorrect and never fully rely on it.
The vehicles handbook should recommend the correct oil for a specific model/engine type. Also nothing wrong in asking the actual car manufacturer for their recommended oil grade/type.
