Sorry - can't answer that. I'm used to business CHAPS - and notified directly from a BofE account.

The CHAPS lines close to inputs by 1630hrs ..... but I'm unsure what is the final time those translate into outputs.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • Did you pay extra to be advised when the money arrives?

There is an option to pay an extra £5 or so for this option.

no... i didn't even know about this option... but i've just tried to follow it up with barclays (source a/c) retail banking who say they can't check anything until tomorrow.

i guess i have no choice but to wait.

    Hi,

Does anyone know which times are to be avoided in banks for making chaps tranfers?

Is there any part of the month which is busier than others?

    thanks
Barclays have different cut off times for different payments. The earliest being 2pm. The end of the month is a very busy time as are most Fridays and Mondays. Tuesday-Thursday are the best days and before the lunch hour time from about 12pm. At Barclays the CHAPS gets faxed over and you get an exact copy of this. Make sure you check and double check the details you have enetered are correct as the dept that deals with these can sometimes be very picky! If all is ok and the payment is sent on time your money will get there by the end of the working day.
