I had (or will be shortly!) a JD Williams account (other brands include Simply Be, Jacamo, Fashion World, Figleaves, Marisota, High & Mighty, Ambrose Wilson, Premier Man & Julipa)
Please Please Please check the interest rate that you're paying if you use the credit facilities - I won't tell you what I was paying as I'm so gobsmacked & ashamed to admit that I let it go on for so long - it was cheaper to transfer it to a credit card then continue paying it off direct.
Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, check the date (if you pay by dd) when it leaves your bank account.
I've just realised that there is approximately a week's delay in a payment leaving my bank account and then hitting the JDwilliams account.
I've raised this as a compliant and they are due to get back to me - time will tell if they do (if they do I'll update the thread)

Hi. Yeah, I was on one of their websites last week. It was for a pair of HOTTER slippers for my mum. It's a strange business, appealing to older people I think. The other one I can't stand is STUDIO. They charge £5 delivery and the APR is about 44%.
I just went to Debenhams Direct and bought the slippers there.
These "catalogue" companies are stuck in some 80's timewarp, where they think people are willing to put up with crap really. I put shopping channel QVC in the same bracket. You can order 4 things at the one time from there and they charge £5 deliver per item.
Hopefully they will adapt or close down.0 -

QVC is popular, same with the catalogue firms, people get stuff on credit, I cant stand them myself.0 -
I've bought products from them (Premier Man), they're OK, but only if you're careful.
Pay online, in full by debit card. Your account is credited the next day and no interest is added if you pay the statement in full.
Shop carefully and you can find some real bargains. There are some major rip-offs too.0 -
I have to be further honest here and admit the only reason I bought for them was that I weighed a lot more than I do now and they offered semi fashionable clothes in a size that fitted me .....well that & I didn't have to go into a physical shop to try on clothes.
Haven't bought anything from them since I've been losing weight.
Strangely enough the interest rate doesn't bother me (yes it was always on my to do list) but it's the gap in taking the money & then applying it to the account that has really annoyed me0 -
Figleaves is nothing to do with JD Williams et al.
I do run a Simply Be Account which I do use the credit facilities on but I pay by debit card which is applied instantly. Having put weight on due to having been very mentally unwell they are one of the few places that sell nice things that fit. And I love their Chloe jeans.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -

Hi Mrs_Ryan ....how are you?
I agree that they seem to be one of the few places that do nice clothes for us larger ladies .....I'm just annoyed about this time lag between the taking of the dd and applying it to my account0 -

I don't know about all banks, but my online account with Halifax shows such debits as "Pending" so you always know you've spent that money.0
