cash withdrawals abroad: Nationwide FlexPlus vs Halifax Clarity

Options
I use Halifax Clarity for making purchases abroad and up until recently I was also using it for making cash withdrawals abroad.

However, I recently switched to Nationwide FlexPlus for their insurance package, and noticed that they don't charge an ATM cash fee for cash withdrawals abroad.

MSE says that the Nationwide FlexPlus charges a 2.75% exchange load fee. Does that fee apply to non-sterling cash withdrawals or perhaps only to purchases? I'm trying to figure out which one is better to use for cash withdrawals, Nationwide FlexPlus or the Halifax Clarity card. I'd like to avoid using the Clarity for cash withdrawals, as it's a credit card and they are seen as cash advances on a credit card.

Thank you.

Forget what the MSE article says. I suspect you've misread it anyway.

The Nationwide FlexPlus fees and charges document very clearly shows what the 2.75% loading is for...and that's "debit card payments in a foreign currency". In other words, purchases.
