Can anyone provide me with a rough idea of how much it would cost to run an item that uses 53 kWh a month? I'm being stupid and can't work it out. Based on an average energy cost.

At say 17p a unit = £9Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

By my calculation, assuming 11.9p per Kwh and 22.6p per day standing charge for 30 days (my current Eversmart tariff), I get £13.070

You can not apply the whole standing charge to the running cost of an item. If you switched everything off and consumed no energy you would still have to pay it.
You could use your typical monthly consumption to come up with an average p/kWh rate which includes payment of the standing charge, so if you had a monthly consumption of 200kWh, the standing charge would be equal to 3.39p/kWh. So at 15.29 p/kWh the cost of 53 kWh is £8.10 ( or £8.50 if your rates exclude VAT)0 -
OP, there is no 'average' energy cost. So tell us your tariff unit rate, and, if on E7, is the device running on day or night rate? At a typical single rate of 12p per kWh,plus 5% VAT, it will cost you £6.68. pm.No free lunch, and no free laptop

The average energy cost is any random number you like to think of between around 11p and 20p a kwh depending on your tariff.
If you assume that 15p/kwh is a reasonable guess then 53kwh x 15p = £7.95 a month or £95.40 a year. Do your own sums and find outNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
The only way to calculate the monthly cost is have everything turned off but the item you want to calculate the cost of, but if you are living in the house then it would be virtually impossible unless you had a smart meter and it gave you the usage of the item.
British Gas once sent be a bill that had the usage of items around the home, cooker, fridge, freezer., and some other items. It said the TV used £6 in one month only I never had the TV on it was the PC so basically a TV & a PC monitor are the same thing.Someone please tell me what money is0 -

You are missing the point - OP wanted to know how much an item that used 53kwh a month would cost - not some random guess by British GasNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
