Insuring 2 young drivers for the same car
We have 2 sons who are about to share a car.
First is 18 and just earned his first year's NCD (and halved his renewal premium :T). Second is likely to pass his test in next few months and will be 17.
This might be an idiot question but is there a way for 2 people to earn NCD (hopefully) when driving the same car or does one have to be a named driver earning nothing?
I'm a bit out of touch but know there are quite a few new types of policy around these days for occasional and young drivers. Just need pointing in the right direction hopefully.

Some companies such as Direct Line will credit a named driver with NCD provided they subsequently take out a policy with themselves.
It worked out well for my wife who managed to build up 5 years plus, however, I'm not sure how that carries over to a different provider at renewal, whether she is credited with the 5 years or the 1 year she actually will have.0 -
OP, might be worth looking at black box policies. They may have some way of differentiating between who is driving. Worth enquiring. Generally, however, the NCB only goes to the main driver (as named on the policy) and not the additional named drivers. As no.1 son has 1 year NCB, they'd probably be best being the main driver price wise, so long as they actually are. They might have to decide between them. Might be the younger, if the older brother wants picking up from the pub on a regular basis!0
