You're not going to believe this but a friend of mine actually looked at this development back when it was being built in 2015 but backed out when they took a look around the area.

They decided that it although was a good location for their commute it was just too noisy next to the 460 and m6 toll and smack bang in the middle of industrial units. Too many compromises for them at the time.

Given that this wasn't the wisest of moves, is there anyone who can actually help the OP?

There's no such thing as being "Miss-sold" a property.
The only thing you can be miss-sold is a financial product.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Not with the information we've been given. It's not clear what (if any) loss they've suffered, and even if they have, it may well be that they don't have a legal claim against anyone.

I don't think anyone here can second guess the outcome of the talks that are going on, but getting the local MP involved seems like a good move.

If planning for residential was granted, then people ought to be able to rely on the site being suitable for housing. If it's now decided that it isn't, and an error was made, the body that made the erroneous decision, hid the evidence, or whatever, becomes responsible for sorting out the problem.

But this could take a considerable time. The company are already saying, "Nothing to do with us guv, we warned you all!"
