Hi all, I’m after some help.
Opening a console shop like cex but struggling to find a Epps system that can do the following, check stock levels between shops, scan barcodes into system and it lets you know cash value or credit value, issue membership cards and store customer details for those wanting to sell to the shop, issue vouchers to customers, move stock between shops. Basically same system cex use and to a certain extent cash converters etc use. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Get some quotes from a software developer? Maybe cheaper than an off the shelf product.
Hope you have deep pockets though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
That’s what I thought, all Epps systems I see are for bars etc not retail0

I know CEX use these guys for payroll software at least:-

I'm not sure if they use their EPOS systems though and they certainly don't look cheap, but would you want cheap for the stated purpose?0 -
These are the people who do Cash Converters software.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

It's a huge subject but take a look at the link as n example of what you would expect to pay, this one £1999 incl vat
https://www.eposnow.com/uk/retail-epos-solution
You can try their software for free on a trial basis.0 -
Hmm that seems quite cheap given at the last employer I worked at those EPOS terminals without the cash drawer are just short of a grand and the printer is nearly £200.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Take a look at FirstData's Clover. It's an extensible EPOS system, so may well have extensions that cover the additional functionality you're looking for.0

Yes that's the problem, there's so much out there nowadays. I set a number of systems up a few years back and it seemed the number of 000's on the final invoice were getting longer. I imagine that this side of the industry has reached a plateau, as has most other IT stuff, and there is a downward trend in pricing, like everything it pays to look around, but at the end you get what you pay for.0 -
my fried when she had her takeaway business used this company http://abacre.com. The software in itself was quite reliable, but you have to find your own backup solution. Also I am going back 10 years and the sales information was not encrypted, but it was a cash business, and should someone have stolen the PC they would be no personal information or CC numbers stored,
it runs on a normal PC and with a appropriately sized digitizer glass on top of a 17" old style glass tube, like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13-3-Touch-Digitizer-Glass-296-4-191-4mm-Screen-Panel-USB-Controller-Kit/162432949172 and was held on with wide black tape gaffer tape around the edges and on a back monitor no one noticed as it looked ok. Now you get things like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/iiyama-T2452MTS-24-ProLite-Dual-Touch-Screen-HD-LED-Monitor-HDMI-VGA-DVI/303075449096 for about £160
one of these ad a printer https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EPSON-TM-T88IV-POS-Thermal-Receipt-Ticket-Till-Printer-M129H/333099446813
Or a package like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EPoS-Starter-Kit-USB-Thermal-Printer-Cash-Drawer-Barcode-Scanner-Till-Rolls/121402076584
or just a drawer https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heavy-Duty-Cash-Drawer-Register-Colour-Black-Condition-New-Box-Sealed/202608886452. To be fair her was not a drawer, but a lid that flipped open on a metal box
Just make sure the PC has more than enough usb connections, because there was the cc card reader to be added, the visa swipe card reader, second display? etc. and loads of plug sockets
that digitizer was easy to set up. I was initially going to use hot glue, but after seeing what a good and sturdy job gaffer tape did to a flat panel on a curved tube I continued that method. Just run the configuration software and touch each corner and centre cross, same as a new android phone0 -
