Defaults

If an account defaults, as an example in 2013. Then each month from April 2013 to February 2015 shows a red default marker on my credit file.

February 2015 being the date the account was satisfied and paid off. When does the default drop off? I was under the impression it's removed 6 years from the date of default yet it's still showing on my credit file?

Comments

  • If the account default date was April 2013, then the default will be removed from your credit file after six years, in April 2019.

Basically, a default is marked on a credit file for six years from the date of default. :)
