PPI on old Northern Bank account

Hi has anyone managed to claim PPI from the old Northern Bank in Northern Ireland? Its now Danske Bank.

I've completed an online form etc and they keep responding saying that they cannot find my account details. I couldn't find my paperwork but knew the address etc I lived at when the account was active plus the years active.

I did contact the FCA and they said that I could request a DSAR to be done. Danske Bank have responded today to say that they still can't find me and that due to the fact that my account was pre 1999 they are unlikely to ever find my details.

Is this worth continuing to pursue?

People would have been able to complain about miss-sold PPI but if the account was closed a long time ago they probably have deleted your records so if you and they don't have any, it's game over

That sounds reasonable.

When firms buy books, they tend to get given the data on open accounts and recently closed ones. Not the full history. its only when its a clean takeover that they get more. Even then you are looking at data protection act destructions over time.

Are you sure you had PPI on an NR bank account? Most banks did not offer PPI on bank accounts. It exists but it is a rare beast.
