credit card refused & credit score check

Hello,
My wife is trying to build her credit scoring and we went through the credit card eligibility calculator on MSE, she was eligible for some cards.
However, she applied for a tesco credit card but was refused which I presume will leave a negative mark on her credit score.
Do we need to wait a while until we can apply for another card with a higher chance of being accepted ?
We've done another CC eligibility check here and she still gets 95% - 80% for a few cards.
Thanks a lot

  • The application does not leave a negative mark on your wife's credit file. :)
It only leaves a search footprint. It only becomes a problem when there are repeated searches over a short period of time.

There is no harm in doing a another application with another lender (there is no need to wait). Is there any negative data recorded on her three credit files?

Rather than waiting, my approach has always been to bash out 3 or 4 credit card applications at almost exactly the same time (with in a 1 or 2 hour window), so the first searches haven't even had time to appear on the credit file when all the later applications are searching them!

It has always worked for me so far. :D
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
  • I tend to do the same thing - making a small bunch of applications over a short period of time. :)
