Car insurance question...
I am thinking of adding partner on car. He was in an accident no fault of his own and suffered whiplash. It was within the last 5 years. If he is added as extra driver will it affect my insurance? If added I imagine he will be covered as comprehensive? and if not as added driver he would be third party is that correct?

It may or may not affect the premium, that's for the insurer to decide according to their secret formulae. But, especially if it ended up as a non-fault accident, any effect should be quite small.
As for levels of cover:
If your policy is comprehensive then adding him will give comprehensive cover for him.
If you don't add him then there will be NO cover for him unless he has a policy of his own that will extend 3rd party cover to other vehicles. Note that some companies don't extend "other car" cover to cars belonging to partners / husbands / wives so you need to check the terms of his policy carefully if planning to use that.
YOUR policy almost certainly won't give 3rd party (or any) cover to an unnamed driver. There are a very few exceptions to that, but they're not in the mainstream market so it's very unlikely you have one of them.0 -
It's worth putting your details into one of the comparison sites, both with and without, your husband on and comparing the quotes. The cover for additional drivers, I believe, is at the same level as the main driver.0

stick it in a comparison site. MY OH has 2 non fault claims in the last 5 years - adds less than 10% to my premium.0

When you say no fault of his own, do you mean the other side accepted 100% responsibility?
There is another matter to consider also in addition to premiums. If he makes a claim, that will affect your no claims and result in you having to declare a claim for future years.
It may be an idea to consider adding your car to his policy instead.
I mean your premiums can rise after a not at fault accident because statistically you're likely to go on to make a claim where you are at fault so.....:DYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Try Direct Line. They ask for incidents only within the last 3 years.0
