:mad: OMG WE HAVE RUN OUT OF TEABAGS.....THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!!!! I don't think I've EVER run out of teabgs!!:mad:

Well I suppose it's a good thing that I'm noting my spending and as I was suggested earlier to start doing an inventory ......

I think I'm just as mad at having to note a 'spend' today too thinking I was going to have a NSD ......this is soo addictive ....but sooo maddening and almost embarrassing highlighting gaps in what should be a cupboard staple........

Right today list will comprise of my daily housework to get the house looking ok .....one dept clean task...making sage and onion stuffing to freeze and shopping for teabgs :o....slinks off and hangs head in shame :)

Don’t worry, Dollypeeps. You won’t forget to buy teabags ever again. And you’ll never run out, unless you’re raided by tea drinking Aliens.
I joined last month and allowed £400 per month, unfortunately my month run 15th -14th which doesn't work with the MSE challenges. To combat this I've decided to set a budget of £85 per week (or to keep things easy per Saturday in the month). So joining her from Friday and as there will be 3 Saturdays before the end of the month that'll be £255; sounds a lot but hoping the April budget will be less because of it (although the children will be off school so maybe not).

Hi Shirlgirl. The thought occurs to me that you might find it easier to pretend that your months run to the calendar, splitting your grocery challenge money into two half-months. When I was paid on the 19th of each month, I put my grocery challenge money into a separate savings account and withdrew it on the last day of the calendar month so that I could run my GC months from the 1st to the 31st. Does that make sense?

(Previously, I was paid on the last working day of each month, so when I changed jobs I had a month where I was “paid early”, which helped. When I changed jobs again, I went back to being paid at the end of the month but didn’t suffer as a consequence because my budget months remained constant.)

I have a small spend to declare. £3.49 in Lidl, spent on mushrooms, double cream, peppers and some chocolate for DH (the resident chocoholic). The mushrooms and cream will go into tomorrow night’s dinner, Cheesy Ham & Broccoli Pasta, which will use up a lump of YS ham that’s been lurking in the freezer for months, as well as the head of broccoli I bought 2 weekends ago from the Farm Shop (still good but needs to be used).

Today’s spend brings our total for the month to £116.21/£162, leaving £45.79 for the rest of the month.

I actually managed a no spend day yesterday! lol

Will pick up some bread, milk and some kind of sandwich filler at lunch as well. I should've boiled a couple eggs last night. I planned to. But I forgot. Made some banana oat biscuits for DD and DH instead as we had bananas on the turn and they wouldn't have lasted much longer. Maybe also get a chicken ready for Sunday if they have a large one with a good date on it.

£27.35 mostly in Morries, £2.20 of was Iceland on the very nice Lancashire yogurt, doubt I will be buying again as price gone up from £1.50, and I find the Lidl Milbona quite palatable, just didn`t want to retrace my steps to Lidl.
Do I need it or just want it.

Well hello everyone! Not been on for a year, and what a year! Engaged 13th April, moved house 30th June, and getting married 13th April!
I was doing well when it was just me and my two children but now with fianc! as well I’m finding it tricky to set a reasonable and realistic budget. Of course, there is more coming in, but a much bigger mortgage so I still need to keep on top of everything.
I have been tracking our spending for a few months and I will start doing the gc again properly after the wedding. Will stay on and chat though to get myself back into the swing of things!

Welcome back, Penny. Sounds like you have had quite an eventful year. Congratulations on your engagement!

I’d suggest that, as a starting point, you assume that your old budget split itself evenly in thirds between you and your children. Whatever 1/3 of the old budget was, add that to the total and use that as your new budget. That should take care of your fianc! joining the household.
