Should I remove mesh material on Ceiling after Skimming?

Hi,

Needed to fix a small area on ceiling where there was a leak. The plasterer has done a good job considering what he had to work with, when he did the skimming.

Just noticed that in one corner there is a small area with mesh material he applied.

Once Its dryed out, should I remove this mesh material or just cut off any loose ends before painting?

God no!

That’s probly a corner bead and will mess up the rat of your ceiling.

Leave it in place and overskim it (or call the bloke back)

Don’t just remove it

Thinking about it, if it’s still wet, means done recently?

Bring it to his attention and hopefully heel sort

(could be brown rather than white, depending on the material)

If so, I would just trim the ends off as close to the surface as possible (curved nail scissors are useful for this )

Yes this is scrim tape and is there to reinforce the skim at cracks, joints and blemishes. So it is there for a reason. Call the plasterer back as others have said.

Thanks a lot for replies. I think it actually is the above, I just cut off the edges and not really noticeable now, so hopefully that's sorted.

The plasterer did mention just to go around the edges of what he skimmed with a quick light sandpaper, so will do that when its totally dried out. Its only a small area anyway.
