Building regs or planning for moving kitchen to different room?

Hello,

Planning on making a one bed flat into a two bed by moving the kitchen to make a lounge/dinner and the original kitchen area a bedroom.

Subject to checking the lease permits this change, would this require planning permission or building regs?

There will be no structural work and ample ventilation and access to plumbing/outside wall.

Thanks in advance

MM

You wont need planning permission. You probably wont need building regs, but check with your Council for a definitive answer.

However, you will more than likely need freeholders consent which he will charge you for!!

Think it's called licence for alternation. The freeholder may want you to go whole hog of getting surveyor etc review.

Additionally if the freeholder may not want more people living in the building if there another bedroom.
