Despite being registered with TPS

Despite having an ex-directory home telephone number and also being registered with the TPS..........I got an unsolicited call from a double glazing firm yesterday evening.

I told the caller that is an offence to call me, she realised straight away that I've registered my number with the TPS. Then she gave a glib explanation that EVERY telephone number will be dialled in turn by their automatic number dialling equipment.

So.........I've just logged on to the TPS web site and registered a complaint about this company.

What a load of rubbish!! "EVERY telephone number will be dialed in turn by their automatic number dialing equipment" simply is not true. If they call you again after you have told them that you are registered with the TPS then they can be fined by the DMA (the body behind TPS).

I told the caller that ......
 You *spoke* to them??? :naughty: A good blast of a recording of the crazy frog music wouldn't have sorted her out ;)

:T Good for you for reporting them! Years ago, it was enough simply to be X-dir!

I'm also X-dir, TPS and ... answerphone vetting :o  do you think I'm going OTT?;)

The only wrinkle in the TPS is the fact that it relies on marketing people to obey the rules! The TPS can't physically prevent your number being dialled .... but the marketers are supposed to follow the rules and, effectively, deny callers access to your number.

A complaint to the TPS should result in the company concerned sharpening up their act ;)

Also ring the BT (if you're with them) nuisance calls hotline (number in the phonebook). The fact that they're using an automatic dialler will not be tolerated if they are based in the UK.
