Default: RCI Finance and Nissan

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience dealing with RCI Finance who provide car finance for Nissan. I had months of issues with Nissan trying to collect my car at the end of a PCP deal, and the way they dealt with their collection agency (Manheim) left me with no car and a default on my account.
Short(ish) version of the story"
I told Nissan I wanted to collect the car
They ignored this
I told them again
They ignored this
They asked me to make full and final payment on the agreement
I told them again I wanted to return it
Manheim called to pick the car up and we played voicemail tennis for weeks as they kept calling when I was at work and their phone system took 20+ minutes to get through, and I didn't have time during work hours to sit on hold.
We eventually arranged collection via email
They cancelled
We arranged again
I had to cancel
We arranged again and eventually, they collected the car after about 3 months of it sat outside my house
When they collected it, they said they'd tried 5 times over the period since the PCP ended (I never arranged any of these times with them or Nissan)
RCI Finance emailed me to say that because Manheim had aborted 5 collections, they were going to place a default on my account
I've had nothing from RCI acknowledging collection of the car
So I now have a default on my account and RCI are refusing to remove the default
Does anyone have any advice?

Hi johnnyleepm and welcome to the forum
Do you have a copy of the t&c's to check whether you have broken the terms of the agreement? If you are in breach of the terms, then the default may be correct. Have you explained that at least one of the attempted collections was cancelled by Manheim?I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

I'll hunt out the T&Cs and check. And yes, I explained everything about what Manheim did, and how they attempted many collections that I didn't know about. RCI are now ignoring me and not replying0
