Include a witness statement at popla stage, signed & dated by your girlfriend, stating the date and time of the breakdown and what she did to help, and the fact it took about half an hour to rescue you.0

my POPLA appeal was unsuccessful because apparently the signage is clear and therefore as I parked without intending to use the shops (as it was a Sunday morning and they were all closed) I am liable. So I guess I should pay.0

IMO the PoPLA decision is wrong. How can 300+ words of densely packed small print, some seven off the ground, and exposed to the elements constitute a contract? Is it reasonability?

Pay them not a penny and if they feel lucky, let them take you to court where a judge can decide.
