Banks which allow free ATM cash withdrawals in Europe/Spain specifically?

Thanks very much to everyone for all the helpful replies, much appreciated and so much stuff I had been unaware of. Person in question is elderly and not very tech savvy but I think I can help with setting up whichever option he'd like to choose.

What about Metro Bank?

Large company, biggest selling point is the customer service and that they have free ATM withdrawals in the whole of Europe.

Before I went to Spain recently I looked through previous threads on ATM charges. Euronet,,Bankia and Banco March were mentioned as giving charge free withdrawals but from what I read later about Euronet it appears they do now charge and quite steeply!

Your advice about shopping around is good advice,you can always abort the transaction if they mention charges. I found CaixaBank did not charge
