Things to do in Chelmsford and nearby please

My young 16 year old daughter and I will be visiting the area in March and need something to do whilst my other daughter is busing working on a building site just below Chelmsford for the day.

What do you suggest from experience please?
Indoor and outdoor would be good in case of bad weather.

Thank you!

  • Not a lot in Chelmsford itself to be honest, the only thing I can think of is Highlands Park. If the weather is playing ball, I would spend the day in Maldon down the road, lovely town on the estuary with some nice cafes and shops.

Drop your daughter in chelmsford, then head off to colchester zoo. As already stated nothing to do in chelmsford, other than highstreet shopping

actually there are a few museums in Chelmsford eg The Chelmsford City Museum, Essex Regiment Museum, Sandford Mill and the Police Museum. there are a number of parks too as well as the shopping

if you are into Military/Planes theres Stow Maries Aerodrome and the Military Museum in Maldon approx 12miles away.
When you know better you do better

I would also suggest Maldon as a destination for the day. Quirky tea shops, old fashioned shops, lots of charity shops (good for books), small restaurants if you prefer a meal, and a nice Promenade Park to walk round at the far end of town.

The gin bar in Chelmsford is pretty good and indoors!
