Thank you for all the birthday wishes for yesterday, much appreciated x

Like Gers life goes back to normal today, food shopping this morning followed by a bit of a catch up on the housework.
This afternoon I will get over to see Lulu to lunge her ahead of a lesson tomorrow, sorry to read that your farrier let you down again Mehefin not good :(
Hope your appointment goes well Holly

Have a good day folks x
  • Good morning,

I had to leave work sharpish yesterday as my boiler had been making a very high pitched screeching sound occasionally and so my landlord had send round a guy to have a look and he was coming at 6. After about 30 minutes he said that is needs a new part, at the back of the boiler and will require a full day to dismantle it and put it back together again. Oh well, at least it'll be fixed.

After they left I went a 5-mile run. I'm still getting used to the area here so I'm not entirely sure where I was going, ended up down some dark alley but managed the run nonetheless. After 6 exercise sessions in 3 days, my body was killing me so I went to bed at 9 and slept like a baby. No gym this morning but I'll go to yoga at lunch and football training tonight.

Chicken and avocado wraps for dinner. Well, that depends if you can freeze avocados? I've taken one out to defrost.

    Holly - Good luck today
Lainey - Sorry, I must have missed that. A belated happy birthday to you!

Morning all from blue sky mehefinland ( blooming cold though!)

Well its Ground hog day again with poor old Scoobymare. Hopefully this time we will get something done.
lainey I can excuse illness with S2S. He is a very good farrier when he puts his mind to it. Is 1 of the most highly qualified in Wales and used to do international shoeing competitions ( and win!).:j:j Its just that he seems never to be quite bothered to do the whole job. I know he is getting on a bit and farriery is hard work ( If Lu ever leans on you when you pick her feet out you will know what I mean :D Just hope he is feeling better to day and we can start sorting the old girl out again.

Must chase up the brooch I have got coming for Mrs M's burpday.
Last I heard it was at the jewellers having a stone set. At least it is already hallmarked so that cuts out considerable time.

Not much else so hugs and spoons to those in need

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Another delightful morning, sun shining and birds singing, I can do with this all day long as long as it does not get too hot.

Finished piecing and putting together the second quilt, it can go away now for a couple of months, the recipients birthday is not till November 1st.

I have ironing to do this morning a shirt for OH and the bed linen. I break the bed linen down, pillowcases and sheet one day, massive duvet cover the next.

Our neighbour across the road came and had a look at the garden, he is going to cut the grass and keep the border tidy for us. Does not want paying......we will see about that.

No real plans for today, I need to put my mind to what plants I can fill the bottom of the garden with, its quite damp there, we have an underground stream which runs down to the canal from the hill outside the village, it runs across the bottom corner of our garden near the house and then under our neighbours garden and into the road. I have a hosta I need to locate and re site, its under the ginormous lavatera which is due for a severe haircut.

I am not sure if its the new blood pressure tablet which I take after supper, but I am sleeping a lot better just now, I did get up for the toilet in the night, but straight off to sleep when I got back into bed. After years of not sleeping, it is refreshing.

Stovies for supper last night yummy, not good fat wise but we only have them occasionally. I have the beef I picked up from Morrison to cook for tonight.

Got a trip to a GC planned today, on the back of picking something up from Freecycle. It's a bureau type thing that I intend to show who's boss with a bit of sawing and paint. And I have a hankering for something I can plant out now. My calla lillies have been frozen to death, last year the snow came and they didn't flower at all. I might have to dig them up and put them somewhere else for a bit.
The little prince is defiitely thinking he lives here, he has been here for two days solid now, and wanders about in the garden catching flies [ when he's awake] Will have to find a vet and see if he's microchipped.
Lamb tonight I think, didn't get round to it yesterday or Monday...and may even start some decluttering of items to sell...I may not....So lovely and sunny, might just sit on the bench in the back garden :)

Nelski, thank god for that, I was getting worried :) and good luck getting your mum to the doctor, I'm not sensing she's willing...Lainey/Gers, hope you have happy sugar hangovers...AOD, that's not great is it...Holly, hope your meet gets some results, enjoy the sunny sun sun! TA, get back out ot the garden with you for sleep inducing excercise :) Speky, you're a bit brave! csarina, you could probably get a good crop of wasabi there then, sells for pots of money.. mehefin, hope today is D-Day then!
    Wotcha many absentees
    Wild and wooly Wednesday!

  • Happy birthday and congratulations to everyone who needs them x

Thank you for the chickpea juice tip, Helebore. I did save some from the can and then....thought I won't use it and chucked it away. I'll try it next time.

I won't get much done today. I have an autism appointment this morning, about my needs. They will decide if I need support or not. I'm already feeling emotionally drained with just the though of it. The good news is I'm in town so I can grab some compost and seeds etc and start my seedlings. I have a hankering to grow some pumpkins but not the room but found some online instructions on how to do it through a grow bag.

I dug out some craft bits from the shed. We missed hubby's granddaughters birthday and she has a unicorn bedroom. I have a box frame and some unicorn bits that will make a lovely picture for her.

My two doggies are having their hair done today, so will smell lovely and fresh. I'll wash the sofa covers and their bed so everything will smell less "doggy".

It's vegan hoisin "duck" in wraps for tea with stirfry. Hope it's as nice as it sounds.

I've dug out a few clothing bits to sell on ebay, I might get around to listing it. They even have tags on...I'm sure there's more where that comes from but baby steps.

Finished watching Riverdale :o last night but I managed to crack on with the dreaded DLA renewal form for my son. I have a mountain of paperwork to photocopy for it. But reading it through I can't imagine them taking it away as his needs, if anything, are increasing.

At least the suns out and if the weather report is anything to go by I better make the most of it. ;)

With pumpkins you dont need an awful lot of soil room, just somewhere for them to sprawl, and they can do that on concrete or grass...As long as you feed where the plant is in the soil, it'll be fine.
They can root from the jointed areas if they are on the soil to help with feeding, but it's not essential. They can also be trained up things, so a pallet or string or netting will do. Side shoot them too, just like tomatoes otherwise they will go truly mental [ or just pull off any trailing vines that aren't fruiting or not fruiting very well] and dependng on the variety, won't fruit very much. They like heat and preferably no frost, so no rush to sow them outdoors yet, I usually do them indoors about halfway through April...

  • Morning all,
The sun is shining again..... my we're being spoilt !
I had a change of plans yesterday and gave my spotted laurel bush a good short back and sides :D. It's no longer over 8ft tall and 10ft wide  .
I'm waiting for a delivery, so I shall do the hoovering that I should have done yesterday and I also want to find the name of a shrub that would go nicely at the top of the garden. I think I shall have to get my gardening books out as they have lots of pretty pictures to look at, especially the RHS encyclopedia :j. I must do my work first or I'll get engrossed and today will have vanished :(.
Mr Fix it is still playing ...... er making his cabinet :(. I shall let him get on with it though as I need him to sort his shed so that I can empty mine. My gardening and my diy shed still have some of his tools in there and I can't get past the doors to get to anything . I had to climb over a table saw to grab the loppers yesterday .
Tea tonight will be ? I shall have a freezer dip later.
TA I too am enjoying the sewing bee, I also had several maxi dresses/skirts, and midis, and minis and dare I say it ....hot pants . I feel the itch to get the sewing machine out now. I'm also enjoying escape to the chateau diy.
I hope all appointments go well today.
Sending healing vibes to the poorly people and hugs to anyone who wants or needs one, or more.
    nan xx
