This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Today I’m for a consultation with a specialist mental health consultant in another town for an assessment and some advice. According to the information they have emailed it could take up to three hours, so it will be quite tiring by the time I have travelled there and back as well, but it should be worth it.
I want to call and see my neighbour next door when I get back because I don’t think she went out yesterday or Monday which is really unlike her and I want to make sure that she is ok. I have heard her moving about so I know that nothing untoward has happened but she may be a bit under the weather and need some shopping.
They are my plans for today. Nothing exciting but they pretty much fill up the day.
DP1 it is good news that your granddaughter is home x
Have as good a day as possible everyone.0 -
Good morning, thank you for starting today's thread Hollyharvey.
Holly I hope your appointment is productive today.
I'm up, the first load of the never - ending washing is churning round. The birds are awakening too, the dawn chorus has begun.
I need to go into the city today, was going yesterday but a traffic problem kept me away earlier in the day and then in the afternoon, there was another stabbing. That is 4 in the last fortnight. All young people and I know that the police have taken dozens of really horrible kites from people very recently. I'm not a target but this is becoming a scary city. At least yesterday's incident, in a charity shop, was not fatal, the others have been.
Hoping that everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still pitch black here, air cool but again supposed to warm up as the morning progresses. I have a basket of washing that didn't dry yesterday (but it didn't get put out until late afternoon) to peg out on the line this morning, weather doesn't look so good after today so want to get it dry if possible.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions (menfolk), with pasta with smoked sausage and mushrooms in a white wine sauce and a side serving of baked stuffed pepper - all eaten and enjoyed. I had just the pasta and baked stuffed pepper. Tonight I'm not sure what we're having probably I'll pick up some pork loins from the SM on the way home and use those and the LO's to make a meal.
Work yesterday was quite slow, but the phones were quite busy - but we'll probably remain reasonably quiet this week and next then it'll go mad for several weeks as we go into the new financial year.
Keep safe and well x

Today’s plans include finding my old passport to renew for 10 more years and gathering up all my identification to get a REAL ID drivers license. New Mexico allows non citizens to have drivers licenses and so all the citizens have to now prove who we are in order to fly in the US.
Fertilizing my beds with composted steer manue to get ready for planting in April. Fixing a water hose.
Planting some hollyhock tubers.
I love leeks! I used them for the first time ever in a chicken dish recently and adore the flavor.
My weight is not good!
16 lb gain since Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I had a wonderful day with my husband running errands and cooking. We have alot of fun together.:blushing:Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Morning All
Looks like another lovely day on the horizon, this sunshine certainly cheers everyone up. I went for a long walk to the post office yesterday after work which was lovely but it was quite cold by 6pm, wish I had taken some gloves.
Nothing much exciting today but it should be busy at work which always makes the day go quickly.
A wash load has just finished, if I have time I'll peg it out before I go.
Enjoy your Wednesday, take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Looks to be another beautiful day it certainly lifts your spirits when the weather is good.
Off to work today and I shall be late back as I am giving blood tonight its my 25th time I think (although I only go for the free biscuits and crisps :rotfl:)
Dinner tonight is some sweet chilli chicken with rice and peas OH will put it in the oven if he gets in first.
Need to put a wash on tonight and rubbish and recycling are to go out this morning.
Have good days all and enjoy the weather xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I hope your long and tiring day will be helpful.
For whatever reason I couldn't get to sleep last night and I was up and down till the early hours. Now I feel like the usual wet rag. Bah.
I really enjoyed the sewing bee last night - 70's fashion. The maxi dresses took me back through the years. I remember a blue and white maxi dress I made for a party and I absolutely loved that dress.
I was sad to see on the news that there has been a bad outbreak of fire over Saddleworth yet again. All the poor wildlife at risk yet again.
I am gallivanting today. It's a Skipton on the bus day with my other two buddies. The usual trawl of the cs and market stalls. And of course lunch and wine. It's always an enjoyable day with much catching up of news between us.
Have a good day all and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Welcome MILA it's always nice to "see" a new face. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Today it'll be back to normal food and drink. I love my tradition though a sugar overload is a strange feeling!
Last night we had a spectacular sunset which promised much, there's still time for a lovely day to appear.
Yesterday my SisL rang me from Oz trying to persuade me to fly out to visit the family in QLD. I stood firm in my refusal and suggested that we (her, her cousin and another friend) could meet up on the west coast of USA instead. It'll make a change from going the other way round. It's a definite maybe.
Right folks, I'm off. I hope everyone has a great day. Happy Wednesday to all.0 -
Morning
Gorgeous blue sky sunrise here today but the heating is firmly on as its very chilly
Yesterday was another tough one with mother and after finding out she didn't just phone my mobile 11 times on Mon there was also 12 messages on my landline which I dont even plug in. She denied it all so i was glad to have the record of times on my mobile. I think it's time to get her to the doctors whether she likes it or not now to see if her apparent memory loss is worrying or not.
Today is a busy day I have a course to design which is not really my bag but at least its from home. Need to get the windscreen wipers changed too at some point as its MOT time next week and they would fail it apparently.
taff its liver bacon and onions tonight so the balance of the universe has returned...out of the freezer so think I will need to make more gravy but looking forward to it already
SO hope the mum visit went ok
Holly hope today goes well sounds very intense :A
Hope everyone has a lovely day and the sun shines on you all for at least one more day0 -
