Slightly unfair.
We had decided on our kids names way in advance of birth, and nothing (not even a relative giving birth on the same day) would have dissuaded us from our names.

I agree - but it’s not necessarily parents stupidity- but potentially a massive coincidence.

Hi actually its worse than that my mum and aunt are twins and they married twin brothers. So our mum's maiden name are the same and our dad's are brother that's why we have the same last name.

I would personally change my name (and I know I say it flippantly and it will have massive ramifications) but this will be an ongoing issue and I can't even really blame the companies as you're likely to be the first ever case of this.

Well that's a problem for the CRAs to resolve. They're the ones who make a business out of collecting, collating, and SELLING data they gather about peoples' finances.
