Help please mortgage payment protection rejection.
In 1997 took out mortgage via a broker with Skipton Building Society. At the time of taking out the mortgage a condition was to take out additional policy. At this time mppi was not taken but their homeplan was. Skipton have advised they sent out a mailshot 10 months after start of mortgage to which we signed claiming 6.monrhs free then £xx thereafter. As this was our first mortgage we thought this was a condition/part of the mortgage and didn't know any different. Thought this was something we had to have. Both employed full time with sickness cover from employer.Has anyone else had the same issue with Skipton and would it be worthwhile perusing through ombudsmen. Any advise appreciated

Which is not an issue with MPPI.Has anyone else had the same issue with Skipton and would it be worthwhile perusing through ombudsmen.
The FOS reject most MPPI complaints and nothing you have said suggests you have a case. We dont have the benefit of the audit trails available and you havent stated your complaint reasons. So, its hard to comment further.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. According to your thread you were sent out a mailing leaflet after the sale offering PPI - as the mortgage had already been drawn down some 10 months earlier I do not see how you could consider this a condition of the mortgage, and as it was sold via post you were under no pressure to sign and return (you made an ‘informed’ choice). No indication or evidence of mis-selling from what you had said... although now you are saying you didn’t ask for it and didn’t know you had it (can’t be both).
As already stated the threshold for MPPI case to be upheld are extremely high given this was a postal sale with no staff involvement 10 months after your mortgage had started then there is no case.0 -

How can you say you didn't know you had it when your first post says clearly that the lender sent you a mailshot after the sale which you chose to take out?
You chose to buy it, you were not miss-sold. You assuming it was part of the mortgage isn't miss-selling, you could simply have asked the lender what it was.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
