Universal Credit Closed my Claim

Hello, I tried to log in my Universal Credit account and then I saw that my Claim was close by an Agent.
the Reason was: Your joint income was the same as the maximum amount you're allowed to earn.
I did receive the First month and it was all ok I do not understand why they did this when my Income was the same as well in the Beginning if it was a problem with the income they would have denied the payment from the beginning. Can someone help me please I need to know what do I need to do now and if I have to call them and explain the situation.

Did you hit two sets of income within the one assessment period?

It can be that you get paid by another source very early, then very late, and you’d then be nilled out for that period. Given half a chance UC will then close the claim if there’s nothing else stopping them.
  • no, i just tried to change my income details from last month because it was different this month compared to last month it was even less. I don't really know why they did this.

What kind of work do you do? Employed by an employer? Self employed?

In reality, if you’re employed by an employer, the real time information should pick up what you’ve been earning. Is it possible that they’ve taken your self declared earnings in addition to the information pulled from your employer?

I’m confused. In your first post you said your income was the same each month, in this post you say you were trying to change the information because your income was different this month.

If you are employed you do not need to tell DWP about your earning, they get this information from HMRC. If you are self employed you have to tell them each month what you have received as payments and what you have spent as business expenses, the difference is taken as your income.

You should be able to make a rapid reclaim through your journal.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Phone Universal Credit and they will explain.

In the first month, I suspect no earnings info was received, so you received a UC payment.

Then when your earnings info was received from HMRC, this meant that you were not entitled to receive a UC payment.

Claims are closed if your earnings mean you are not due any UC payment.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

If you think it has been closed incorrectly just re-open your claim, however if you get a nil award owing to earnings again in next AP it will be closed again.
