Time Limit on PPI Claim

So i had an overdraft with Lloyds and I've recently decided to put in a claim for PPI. No surprise, they wrote saying that I did have PPI. However, during their investigation , they have advised that they are unable to review my case. The reason for this is that the PPI policy was sold more than 6 years ago and the FCA's complaint handling rules set a time limit of three years from the date a letter was sent to me saying it was mis-sold.

The issue here is that Lloyds are saying that they have sent me letters about mis-selling PPI back in 2013/14, however I have never received these. They have said that they can still look into my claim if there were "exceptional circumstances" and they would need evidence of this. How can someone prove they didn't get the letters?????

Looking for some advice on this

I'm sure the letter you never read didn't say that :rotfl:

Probably invited you to make a complaint if you were unhappy . .

Have you moved, changed address and never told them? Letters posted to your your last known address are deemed as delivered.

The only real area it gets overturned is if you moved address and they did not have the correct address. However, a recent ombudsman decision ruled in favour of a bank because the account holder failed to notify the bank of their address change and that is a condition of their account. So, even that is weak nowadays and only tends to work if the banking relationship had ended before the address change.
a letter was sent to me saying it was mis-sold.

Lloyds have never sent any letters like that. You have misunderstood. They sent letters inviting you to complain if you felt you may have been missold PPI.
