Scottish Power £20 to switch now

My current tariff ends 30 April. Scottish Power offer £20 to lock in to a new deal before 28 February. But if I switch now, I'll spend more than I save! I calculate my current costs for March/April will be £301.59. And in the new tariff £419.14. That's a 39% price rise!! And also means I'd pay £117.55 more to get £20 back. Does that seem like such a great deal? I guess the issue is, what will the prices be if I wait until April to switch? SP do come up as cheap(ish) in the Energy Deals.

It's an offer -you don't have to accept it.

You estimate £301 for two months - sounds high - are you sure ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

£150 per month doesn't sound that far-fetched to me. Especially if they live in a big and/or old property.

Quite big, 4 bedrooms. And I'm looking at Winter costs. Annual Gas usage is 27053 kwh and Electricity 7922 kwh.
The other thing I see is the offer they make is "Online Fixed Saver 2020" which sounds like the MSE listing for "Online Fix and Save April 2020" but is more expensive. And the MSE listing for "Super Saver April 2020 B2" is cheaper still. ( Although still more than I pay now obviously ). And I thought suppliers were meant to be making their offers simpler to understand and compare! I'll stick with the Energy Club and I do not think it would pay me to switch earlier than 30th April. I'll sit tight and check offers closer to 30th April. I also keep track on the Direct Debit, so they do not keep themselves too much in credit. They always quote a monthly DDR higher than it needs to be.

    Start monitering prices now .
A number of suppliers have already announced future price rises .
  • With the warm winter nearing an end wholesale prices have been dropping, the deals are only going to get better so worth waiting
