Help with old addresses

Hi,

Over the last 5 years, I must have had about 4 PCNs that I disagreed with and based on advice I read at the time, totally ignored them. All of them sent me a few letters, then stopped.

I've moved house 3 times in the last couple of years. DVLA have my current address as my driving licence has been updated.

My question is - if an old parking ticket company decides to start court action, and writes to an old address, how will I know?

Any royal mail redirection has long expired. Is there any protection at all I can give myself?

If a PPC decides to take you to court using your old addresses, you won't know until you check your credit file and find CCJs on them.

If you know who the scammers are and still have the PCN/PCN numbers, you can tell them your new and current address. This of course may have the effect of them deciding to take you to court, but at least you would know about tit.

Mrs May promised to stop this behaviour where a PPC relies on the initial DVLA keeper info and is not required to go "looking for you" if you don't respond.

You could write to your MP and Mrs May asking why this is still happening because you are worried it could happen to you. Use the information in red from post 1 of the NEWBIES where our MPs have slammed these unregulated scammers in open parliament.

Irrelevant, I'm afraid, it is the V5C of any cars of which you are the registered keeper that count.
  • You won't know until you check your credit records. I would suggest sending their DPO an update with your current address. Nothing else. It may prompt the letters to start back up again, but at least you wouldn't miss a claim.

Believe me, finding you had a CCJ registered against an old address is a PITA trying to get it removed ("set aside").

And also make sure that you update your log book for your car. Driving licence doesn't talk to the V5 or the other way around. In any event, they can't request your details from the DVLA for a second time.
