RTB: Housing Question

Corrected that for you.
Not what I wanted to hear though was it, it was offering a solution to the problem I initially posted rather than going off subject at me personally and stating im wanting to make some huge profit etc.. blah blah blah.. wasn't needed at all. but whatever public forums ey what do you expect!0 -
Looking on the bright side if it is a 3 bed and only worth around £90k it is probably in an area where no one wants to live and the council might have a job letting it so they might be happy to get rid of it and build a new up to date one somewhere better. The house is at least 40 years old so it will probably be getting to the point where it needs a new roof etc after all council builds did tend to be on the cheap side after the war. It probably doesn't have the modern level of insulation so it may be becoming difficult to let. To modernise it will probably cost more than you could sell it for and no council is going to want to do that.0

This wouldn't bother me with all my family, friends and everybody I know living around this area I'll be happy with this as I say its not some brilliant house but its the one I grew up in so the one I'd prefer and want, and its not like I'm needing money to buy my own house with my partner as thats covered as i've stated previously but now removed because there was literally no point posting in the first place hah, lesson learnt RTB is not enjoyed here.0 -
THANKS A LOT!

I am failing to understand what the 'problem' is you refer too. As far as I can see there is no problem.
Your mother wants to leave you a house but unfortunately (for you) it is not her house to give and she is in no position to purchase the property under RTB herself.
You clearly have some money saved up, why not buy your own house on the open market. You get security and an investment whilst your mother also gets to keep her secure tenancy until the end of her days.
Of course you wouldn't get the huge discount to potentially cash in on in the future, but you're not doing it for that, so that shouldn't matter...right?0 -
I see that the OP has annoyingly deleted the first post as they didn't get the replies they wanted. Those who took the time and trouble to reply and point out the possible pitfalls of their scheme now have replies with no context.
I can't find the OP in google cahed pasges to be able to post it here. Has anyone got a copy of it?0 -

I can't see what the point of buying it is then if you have one with your partner? You aren't going to be able to get good tenants if you let it because as you say it isn't the kind of house or in the kind of area where people aspire to live. So what are you proposing to do buy it and leave it vacant?0 -

its gone because the advice was not constructive, it was a witchhunt of a RTBer as per usual on this forum..
the replies aren't needed and if the thread could be deleted I would of because the whole purpose in posting here was to get help and advice and all I got in return was oh you want this big profit, oh you want this etc. so the threads useless and may aswell be archived off or deleted.0 -

No mate the purpose was for me to live in it, as I say my PARTNER has a house, not me im not on anything to do with that house, and with personal circumstances its much easier to have a house with my mother. but as I say most of my posts were taken out of context so i expect nothing less of whats left. for anybody who was genuinely trying to assist or offer constructive advice of the cons of the situation thanks, for the rest who just wanted to vent some of their built up steam, i hope it helped! :rotfl:0 -
Simple question, what if you die before her? Or get ill or have an accident so you can’t earn and maybe even need care yourself?0
