Light bulb connection snapped.

Silly me I went and snapped the only light bulb connection in hall cupboard during this mornings' tidy up which I'll complete with an afternoon drive to re cycling centre.
One of those old school light bulbs (round) which either pushed or screwed into the connection on internal cupboard wall.
I think half of the connection is still in place with some left on the light bulb.
I tried to re force it though possibly the bulb is since null and void
Is this a job for an electrician, if so what cost am I going to incur as a few days yet until wages arrive.
Thanks

If you are reasonably confident (and the power is off), then it sounds like the old fitting need only be removed and a new one wired in - which would take about five minutes.

Failing that, it should be a trivial task for a sparky or handyman.

    Thanks @Grenage
As I have m.s it's not as simple though happy to try.
How do I remove the old fitting and what do I purchase and I've no idea how to wire in a new connection.

Thanks mser's I haven;y yet unscrewed the connection though can lift it a littler, looks one or two plug in block type connections.
I'm thinking maybe home Emergancy might be worth a call as this is much more difficult with m.s. and very awkward indeed.

    Home Emergancy electrician requested.
I've no doubt the suggested connection is correct though I cannot manage to unscrew particularly the wiring part myself.
    14:00-18:00 today.

Forgot I'll need a new bulb! I think after the crunching sound.

The bulb might be OK. You can see where the old bakelite fitting is broken. Bakelite makes a crunching sound when breaking.

Unless you are confident with rewiring the fitting, I would get a friend or handyman who is. Or get an electrician.

Thanks I only have bathroom with similar fitting-the bulb is fine so can be re used.
The hall cupboard fitting is very awkward for me to attempt what could be simple disconnect/re connect wiring with a new fitting, hence as previously mentioned home Emergancy electrician arriving before 18:00 tonight.
