for info - if you are planning on coming back to the UK at some point you will need to pass the Habitual Residence Test (even for UK citizens that have been abroad) https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/coming-from-abroad-and-claiming-benefits-the-habitual-residence-test/the-habitual-residence-test-an-introduction/what-is-the-habitual-residence-test-EWSNI/0

OP are you going to work/been staying in an EEA country, the fact that you are waiting for a work visa suggests not and that might make a difference.0

No I haven't been working - my only mistake is being out the country and not telling them which I didn't realise was an issue due to not looking it up.
It only occurred to me as I was checking how I tell them I may be starting work soon.
I haven't even got my visa yet I just got in touch right away and explained, and asked for the amount I've been over paid so I can arrange a repayment.0
