OP are you going to work/been staying in an EEA country, the fact that you are waiting for a work visa suggests not and that might make a difference.

No I haven't been working - my only mistake is being out the country and not telling them which I didn't realise was an issue due to not looking it up.

It only occurred to me as I was checking how I tell them I may be starting work soon.

I haven't even got my visa yet I just got in touch right away and explained, and asked for the amount I've been over paid so I can arrange a repayment.
