Pitfalls when selling phone/ipad

I have a couple of iphones and an ipad that are broken to varying degrees which I'm thinking of listing on ebay as 'for spares and repairs'. I've got the boxes and I'm not expecting much money for them.
Looking at the listing for similar items and sellers seem to be listing a lot of conditions of sale and in some cases putting warranty stickers on to ensure items are not tampered with. I'm getting a feeling that flogging broken phones might be problematic?
Anyone got any insight into any pitfalls/things to look out for/potential buyers to avoid? In fact, if someone does bid and seems dodgy is there a way to avoid them?
Thanks in advance

The problem is someone sees a video on youtube where they purchased an electrical item cheap and fized it for virtually nothing.

So off they trot tp buy stuff and overpay because 10,000 others all watched the same video and thought its still a bargain.

Then they get the item and the cheap fix doesnt work. So they want their money back.

Ebay, allows them to get that refund.

SIL moved after splitting up with her partner and had 2 TVs spare, they didnt power on so i tried the cheap fix of replacing the caps in the power side.

1st TV powered on so result, not quite, The screen was broken. Oh well i have a working PSU now.

Replaced the capacitors in the 2nd TV and it worked for ages before the sound failed. Fixing the sound was beyond me so it went to the tip.

Fixing things is pot luck sometimes and being able to return it must be a bonus for some, if selling online you take that risk.

Thanks for the replies. I usually only sell my own 'no longer needed' stuff and give a full description and photos. So far I haven't had any problems - I don't accept return but I only sell stuff that is honestly in pretty good nick at quite a low price.
Would people really buy broken phones off a Facebook market place? I find Fb a really annoying place to sell because people say they'll pick something up but then don't turn up and mess you around.

Ask them for their phone number if they make an appointment.

As I'm sure you away saying you don't accept returns makes no difference- it just means that buyer has to sue the SNAD route to get a refund instead.

To make a SNAD return more difficult make sure you only list n the category 'parts' and not in the main phone or ipad category. Don't give any indication that something is fixable- be clear 'this does not work - selling only for spares or parts'

As for selling on facebook, this evening alone two different local companies are advertising in my local selling sites asking for broken phones and tablets- so yes it is a commonly traded item for cash.

Have you thought of selling on Gumtree or Preloved? There can't be any argument then that somebody didn't get what they expected, they pay in cash so can't claim their money back. You could, in the initial emails, set out in detail exactly what faults are there so there could be no misunderstanding.

Thank you all for the help and advice. Looking a bit more at the listings on eBay, seller of broken phones are very, very clear about the condition of the phone, emphasising for parts only. Gumtree doesn't seem very active near me (we are a rural area so no great density of population) although there is one 'commercia'l broken phone buyer in our county so I might see what they would offer. As i said, I'm not expecting a lot of money, more just making sure that if any use can be had of them it is.
