Reject Plevin to appeal case?

Hi, please can you advise if I need to reject the Plevin settlement in order to appeal the case?
I have just returned from holiday overseas and received a letter from my bank offering Plevin settlement. In their letter they stated that they couldn’t get hold of me to ask further queries so are only settling using the Plevin rule. I’m wondering if they would have settled further than just the Plevin rule. As I was overseas on holiday my phone was switched off so I can only guess they had tried to call. This is the first letter I’ve received since submitting the complaint.
I’m going to contact the bank with the additional information but am not sure if I need to reject the current settlement. Will I lose the Plevin settlement if I ask them to consider the additional information?
Does anyone have experience of this type of situation?
Thanks
Susan

No. The Plevin payment is unaffected.

All rejected complaints are assessed under the Plevin rule.

For them to reject it, it means they have found no wrongdoing at their end. As they could not contact you, it means they have not be able to ask if you have any evidence to support your complaint reasons.

As mentioned above, the Plevin bit is yours. If they go on to uphold the original complaint, they deduct the plevin payout from it.

  • Thank you both for your responses. I’ll go ahead and contact the bank with the additional evidence I have.
    Thanks so much.

If the bank have rejected your complaint then you may need to go to the FOS unless your evidence is overwhelming

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
