Can a new prepayment supplier wipe your credit?
Hi,
I have existing prepayment meters for electricity and gas. I have just received my warm front rebate and credited it to my meter. so I have rather a large credit built up which I won't use up for some time as I live in a small flat where I am the only occupant.
If I switch to a new supplier - say Bulb and put their key in, will they wipe the credit I have on there? I have seen warnings about this, but didn't know if it was actually true or even legally permissible? I realise I have paid/received that to/from EDF my current supplier, but it doesn't seem fair for it to be just wiped so no-one can use it.
Thanks,
Seth

I am lead to believe the key resets tariff and unit /standing charge and removes any debt (last resident) or credit on the meter0

Yes, you will find that your credit is wiped when you move over. Your previous supplier SHOULD refund any credit.0

Yeah they reset automatically when you put the new key in, you can contact your current supplier about how to get a refund0
