Sorry for the alarming thread title!
So tonight I went to view a property I’d be interested in buying!
I took a friend who is a builder and he had a look up the loft! In the loft there was 6 double sockets together and signs of fertiliser!
There is no plants in there! It hasn’t been active for quite a while!
They have blanked a socket off in bedroom so builder said I can just restore easy to original!
The street is actually a very nice street in a quiet area! This has been rented out for 1 year previous and I’m sure the landlord isn’t aware!
My question is should I still put an offer in on the house? Could I knock money of the valuation for this?

It's only going to be worth less if they had done anything which needs fixed - and it sounds like your friend has checked that already. I don't see a problem.0

Just make it clear on the Fixtures and Fixings form that you want the plants included in the sale.0

Would I be liable for future investigation if I sell house?
Could I use this for haggling?0 -

No and no.
I’d be really wary of a buyer who tried to get money off for that. I’d be wondering what you’d try to do if the survey highlighted actual problems.0 -
What "future investigation"? It sounds like they're long-gone, and will be even further gone by the time you move in.Moneygrabber89 wrote: »Would I be liable for future investigation if I sell house?
On what basis?Could I use this for haggling?0 -
If you do go ahead and buy, be prepared for hassle from whoever supplies the electricity.
Read the meters and keep a close watch on consumption - 6 sockets and fertilizer would indicate a very high electricity usage and if you only use 10% of what the previous occupants use you are likely to get estimates which could mean the supplier sending you an estimated bill and demanding payment every month for what could be a year's worth of your own consumption - this is approximately what happened to us.
That's if the meter has not been bypassed.0 -
I would get an electrical survey done just to make sure the sockets they’ve connected in the loft space are safe and that they haven’t bypassed the meter etc.0

Are you sure about that? It sounds to me like it might have gone to pot.0 -
If you buy the house check the meter seals are intact to avoid later claims of tampering.0

Though to be honest much like any other lighting it is a lot cheaper these days with led lighting.
As such reduces the need to tamper.
But yes (OP) check the meter out as you should at any property you are consider buying!
Who knows it could have just been some sort of bondage parlour.0
