Have a valiant ecotec 824 plus boiler installed Sep 2011. Took up British Gas boiler insurance last year and they came out Sep to check boiler before I signed up - they found a leak and replaced a pipe which we paid for before they put us on the plan.
In Jan 19 we had a leak so paid the £60 call out charge which we have to pay as an excess and they fixed it.
This weekend the heating wouldn't go off and heating temperature was showing as 28 degrees and we just couldn't switch it off. The thermostat would not allow me to Turn temperature down as it was just showing dashes and not numbers and I guess it wasn't connecting to the boiler because the receiver on the boiler was static red. I tried changing the batteries in thermostat but that made no difference. For anyone who has one of these they are a nightmare - the default language goes to German and it is such a complicated thermostat. We didn't choose it the heating engineer recommended it however he's moved totally out of the area.
I called British Gas who told me to turn boiler off at the mains until the engineer came out which he did at 12 today. Of all 3 visits none of the engineers seem to be familiar with the 392f wireless thermostat and he said it wasn't connecting to the boiler so he fiddled about with it and got the controller and boiler working which I saw. He was a very nice engineer and tried to explain it to me but neither him or me could see any button to press to try to reconnect the controller to the boiler similar to a wifi button. This has cost another £60 call out charge.
Now tonight whilst there is no message on the controller the wifi receiver part in the boiler is flashing red again intermittently. Last night it was a solid red.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this and what's causing it or if that is meant to happen as I can't find anything in the manual and I'm fed up. Going through very stressful period in life at present and it's just causing further stress and money I don't have.
Would be grateful for any pointers/advice. Thank you.

Try putting it back to factory setting, press both buttons for 10 seconds & change the everything to yes & confirmI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
