Trying to get out of a contract with an advertising company

Hey first post so gonna try and make it short...
My partner is a sole trader in the building business.
A few weeks ago he received a call asking if he would be interested in getting an ad put In our local councils planning permission pack it’s a private company not the our local council that runs it
Within an hour he had a sales man sitting in his work van selling him a tiny ad for 24 month and it would only cost £13 and penny’s a month obviously he should have said giv me time to think about it but no he signed on the dotted line
Turns out it’s a deposit of £190 and a further £800 ish for a 24 month contract at £89 a month for something like 8 months I can see what the sales man has done he’s caughy him off guard he’s been slightly truthful in the fact that over all it will work out to be a small amount monthly if they didn’t want it all upfront now as soon as I found out I’ve contacted them and asked them to stop work on the art work and they have not and are pushing on I’ve sent them emails asking them to stop and I’m pushing for a refund of the £190 deposit I’m not hopeful top and bottom we simply can’t afford it they keep as its b2b there doesn’t need to be a cooling off period any advice would be much appreciated I want out off this contract and there point blank refusing there wasn’t really much small print in the contract he has signed but they have emailed me some documents witch were apparently on the back of the original we received a copy through the mail and that has nothing on the back hopefully someone can help thanks in advance
