New Kia,

Hi,
Bought me a new vehicle today, picking it up on Thursday from our local Kia Garage. Although it's not brand new, it comes with approved Kia franchise scheme which basically means they reset warranty for 7 years. If anyone is interested, I definitely recommend as you can get a Blizz deal particularly in March / September time when new reg(s) enter forecourt.

Anyway, my Kia dealership apparently has this deal where you get car mats, boot mat and mudflaps which would normally cost £310 according to my salesperson. He then applied their discount which came to a final figure of £240 which sounds GREAT. I didn't feel the need to commit to the mudflaps and basically got a figure of £145 for 4-floor mats and protective boot flooring. I nearly fell for it but I thought better research the subject a bit further.

A quick google search revealed from Kia(s) own website for parts united kingdom

GT-Line ( labeled ), brand new floor mats x4..... £42.08
Boot Liner......£41.50
Total: £83.58
Saving: £61.42

Lets for argument(s) sake I wanted to add mudguards
Front+Back Kit ( parts, not installed ) 57.76
Total: £141.34
Saving: 98.66

Is anyone familiar with installing mudguards?

Moral of the story is, even if the seller tells you a discounted price on the original price, it's probably cheaper elsewhere!

I apologize for grammar!

Yeah and here's where it can become an issue. Most third party ones require the use of screws or metal clamps to fit them which can damage the paintwork. This can result in rust and having them fitted other than original equipment ones supplied ones by the dealership can affect a bodywork corrosion claim in that area.

Parts are all sourced directly from Kia https://www.kiapartsuk.com/

But at a much better price than what I was quoted from my local Kia Garage.

Subsequently, I just got a quote for front and back mudflaps ( to be fitted ) by a local, independent garage.. £90

    How important are mudflaps?

    Corrected that for you.
