This 20s plenty idea is stupid. They are bringing it in in our village. The only roads that can be changed from 30 to 20 are those roads where a survey has found that the average speed is 24MPH or less. Totally pointless.

To change any roads wher the average speed is above 24MPH requires additional calming measures and the council don't have the money to do that (because they've already spent it on pointless signs for areas that don't need them)

There's been discussion about this for streets in my local area - the local residents association is in favour.
It is acknowledged by all parties that the chances of any enforcement action is somewhere between zero and non-existent but the prevailing view is that just having the signs will raise awareness and slow people down.
I'm yet to be convinced that the boy racers who are the predominant traffic issue will even notice the signs have changed but mine appears to be the minority viewpoint.
And not a school in sight.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • We had all this nonsense where I used to live - absolute nightmare with everything just crawling along.

The main problem is that black-box-bound drivers will have to obey the daft limit or lose their insurance.

    All hail Big Brother!
