If anyone has been in the same situation, i would gladly accept the advice!

It's been a few years since I opened an account purely to switch, but barclays were pretty quick at the time.

I never switch the account that my salary is paid into, I don't need the hassle from them. You can meet the monthly pay in requirements by transferring money in a ring between all the accounts you have.

When taking advantage of any offer you need to double check whether there are any Direct Debit requirements. Each bank has slightly different rules.
  • Thanks all for your replies,

I actually already have a Monzo card which I do not use as I recently tried N26 and pretty satisfied with it. I did not know Monzo could work so that's perfect.

Might be slightly short for the transfer requirements of both the advanced account and the FD but not much to lose really.

    Thanks again :)

You are highly unlikely to get accepted for an HSBC Advance account if the money doesn't come from an employer or pension provider, or if you had several tens of thousands ready to deposit with them in a low/no interest account. Other banks are less picky. Though recently we have also seen Danske Bank getting shirty with people who don't use their current accounts "properly". Hope they haven't started a trend.
