Insurer no longer covers lease cars (Quote Me Happy)

Options
Looking for advice on my insurance policy, I renewed with Quote Me Happy mid-Jan to go live mid-Feb knowing I am due to change my car early March - they have no amendment fees and were the cheapest so a no brainer at the time...

I've gone to amend the policy today with the new car and they seem to no longer insure lease cars when I try to submit the change, it says they only cover "Insuring a private car - we don't cover company cars or leases". This contradicts their main site where it just says they insure cars and not vans...

Any recommendations on how I can get the £50 cancellation fee waived on this basis given they have changed a key part of their underwriting process? I've only had the policy less than a week but I need it until after the 14 day period (where the fee is £25).

Thanks

If you wait till after the cooling off period then expect the total cost of cancellation to be higher than were you to use the cooling off period to cancel

That is because you only pay for the exact time on cover whereas the cost of (say) 19 days will be calculated differently

Next time you change cars mid term remember to check with your insurer that they are happy with your new vehicle

If they don't like it for any reason then as you have discovered they can cancel the policy involving cancellation fees/loss of the NCD earned during the party policy year

    Thanks
Can I ask if you have contacted them to express your displeasure
I imagine that if you complain and then threaten them with the ombudsman you might get lucky and they will refund on a goodwill basis
