Rough idea of cost to replace hallway floor

Options
After a few disasters (burst pipe, flooring pulled up, floorboards splintering and not going back down...) I'm unfortunately in a position where I need to replace my hallway floor entirely (probably). I have a joiner out to take a look but he wasn't available for a few weeks so I'd be really interested in having a very rough warning of the price and what will be fair. It's a 1960s top floor flat, the hallway covers roughly 8 square metres. It's long and narrow but not a perfect rectangle due to a few cupboards. While reclaimed timber is a nice idea I'm short on money and chipboard sounds more likely. Has anyone had a similar job done, and has a guess as to cost? I have zero frame of reference as to whether we're talking £250 or £750! Any advice appreciated.

  • Take some pictures if you can and put the job on my builder and see what responses you get. You are not obliged to accept them. In fact just take the job down if you get 3/4 quotes and you don't want to proceed.

After my recent horror show with my driveway, my recommendation is to use a highly rated contractor on MyBuilder or Check-A-Trade.
  • Thanks! I've posted it there the other day, didn't get a lot of interest but will keep it open and see where it goes.
