Simplest one of all......put some more clothes on !!
I have two neighbours that wear a tee shirt, shorts & flip flops in their houses all year round.
I hate to think what their gas bill is every month.

Thanks ianto11. Good to know. Our water is very hot. Do you think I’m using too much energy getting it hot? How would I tell?

Robin, the thermostat’s LCD is dying. I’ve fixed the other two by adjusting the PCB but this one is beyond my wit.

Generally, does it sound like under £80 per month is feasible? Rest assured I’m wearing a jumper already.

You must have a separate thermostat for hot water, normally on the tank itself.
Make sure the immersion heater is not on as well.

It looks like one of these........https://www.everflocylinders.co.uk/brochure/Everflo-Rapide-Plus-Instructions.pdf......page 11 shows the water temp stats ( boiler and immersion )
Couple of caveats.....water temp needs to be above 60 to kill legionella, and also if you feel comfortable checking the stat settings remember there will be 240V present under that cover...so best to isolate the power first

If it's not that exact cylinder, it'll have somaething very similar for temp control ;)

Just take it apart - usually a very small phillips type grub screw in the top left and right corners - then gently prize it off. The top cover will come off and in the base unit will be 2/3 AAA batteries. .

If new batteries don't work its easy to get a like for like new unit and very easy to change.

Can you take a photo ?

I've taken it apart, changed the batteries, taken out the PCB, re-heated the strip to the LCD according to this video.

No. It fixed two of them but not the third.

LCD failure is a known and common fault on the CM927. Contact Honeywell and ask nicely, they may supply a replacement FOC. Nothing to lose.
Next, get the loft insulation sorted out to 300mm. It's a half-day job, and will cost nothing like £500. The sheds regularly do offers on loft insulation.
Ditto insulate the hot tank. £10 and will take 5 minutes.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
