Wrong Quantities on Customs Declaration

Options
So Im new to this forum but I'm really at a loss. I purchased some makeup from an american company in January coming to 51USD (£41~ at the time of purchase iirc) with free shipping. I was expecting to pay customs of course but then the card came through on the 9th Feb saying £39, which is higher than the 20% it should have been. I phoned Royal Mail got redirected to HMRC and found out that I had to collect the package before I could claim.

So, (as soon as I could) I paid to recieve it and it turned out the customs declaration was completed incorrectly. Each item's quantity marked as 4 instead of 1 thus the total being added up as 204 not 51. Now Ive contacted the company and they've said they don't do the customs declaration and to contact my local post or customs office? (which sounds fake but okay...)

I've obviously to wait until Monday to contact either again but could use some advice if you have any. Ive uploaded some photos but cant post the links so Ive left the important part of the imgur urls below.

    Your image links don't work.
Doesnt really matter. The sender completes the declaration.
Unless HMRC accept your side of things then you have no way forward.
RM don't decide whats due and as it is HMRC has followed the customs declaration.

I've had this before. I ordered some t-shirts from the US. Someone typo'd the value to a factor of 10 resulting in a stupidly high customs charge

Paid it and was able to claim it back with photos and copies of my original invoice.
