Car write off

Hullo, I was recently involved in a car accident and am the non-fault driver. The car needs a replacement front passenger door but the insurance company say that the car is beyond economic repair (it is a 2004 Toyota Corolla with 66,000miles- they have valued it the car at £1100 and the repair cost at £2k). It is salvage category N.
The same model with similar mileage is valued at around £2500 on comparison websites, but my car has a pre-existing dent on the bumper and a small area of rust on the seal which would bring the value down. My trusted garage has quoted somewhere in the region of £500 for a repair with a second hand door.
The person I am dealing with is pushy to the point of aggression, and told me I only have 48 hours to decide to accept the offer or pay £100 to get my car back. I read online that I have 7 days and confirmed this with the insurer (Churchill). When I queried this on the phone with him, he claimed to have never heard this before and said he'd bring it up with his line manager. When I suggested I check with Churchill again and got them to speak to his line manager, he got panicked and said he'd let me have until Monday (I actually have until Wednesday). He will only budge to £1200 on the price. My questions are:
1) is it worth asking to work with a different engineer given that he lied about the 48 hours? he mentioned something about getting a point against his name for every day beyond that but not my problem!
2) is it worth haggling over the price more?
3) has anyone had experience of getting their car back happily? The MOT and service is due in march anyway so that's not a major consideration.
I'd be very grateful for any advice- the whole thing has been really unpleasant and i'm keen to get it sorted and move on. Thanks.
