Britannia Parking County Court Business Centre Claim form

Morning,
In July 2017 we parked in Plymouth and ran over our time on our parking ticket. Britannia Parking then sent us a fine of £85, which was mental, so we ignored it and didn’t pay.
We’ve now had a County Court Business Centre Claim form from BW Legal asking for £231.76 in total.
Surely this isn’t legitimate?
Any advice appreciated.

You need to parking ticket forum above this on. At the top of that board is a thread that tells Newbies to read it.
The second post in that thread deals with the court process and has sample defences to use.0 -
I'm not sure "It was mental so we ignored it" is going to run as a defence.0

It will cost you now to make this go away. Ignoring it to the point it goes to CCJ stage is not the smartest thing to do. Too many pub experts, freemen of the land idiots & co spout nonsense about binning letters. Good luck in court...0

Who needs court when you can get judgement on a forum designed to help.0

Ok, what do you want us to tell you? It won't necessarily be correct, but you'll feel better.0 -

Yes it is legitimate process. If you ignore paperwork it generally doesn't go away and will often cost you a lot more time and hassle as you've now foundRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
:rotfl: that's cracking. "Mental", in fact. Plonker.Ulysses1982 wrote: »Who needs court when you can get judgement on a forum designed to help.0 -

The required answer was given in post #2. There is and was no need for anyone else to contribute.0 -

It is a public forum so if people want to contribute they can and as we know well on the from the people who end up in the Credit File & Ratings board posting about the CCJs they've ended up with the advice that is given on th Parking board isn't exactly 100% reliable.
To the OP, yes it is legitimate. When you use private parking you agree to a contract. You broke that contract, they sent you a bill for the penalty charge for breaking the contract, you ignored it, they took it to County Court to try to get a judgement to enforce the contract. You now have to submit a defence and failing to do so will see a judgement issued against you by default. It will then cost you £225 to try to have the judgement set aside if you ignore it and a CCJ is issued and you would have to come up with a damned good reason to the court as to why. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
