Bad Paving Driveway Job

How is surface water drainage captured?
Their explanation was it would roll down to the street and off to the road.
I have a drain at the front of my house to the left of my porch.
I am now getting quotes to relay the entire lot. I will probably have to pay 600-800 for labour and material costs provided they have actually put enough hard base in.0 -
You should have had planning permission for this.

Oh dear.
:wall:0 -
So I had a huge discussion with them this morning, enough for neighbours to hear them swearing.
In the end I told them I have no confidence in completing the job so please don't do anything until we've agreed a solution.
I gave them 3 options.
1. Give me money back for the labour involved to remove the bricks and relay them properly.
2. Remove the bricks and material. Pay me for getting someone to relay the bricks.
3. Go away, never come back to my house and let the legal process give me the money for the poor job you've done.
I remained calm throughout, they were hurling insults and asked me not to speak to any other potential customers. I said, who I speak to and what I speak to them about is not their concern.0 -

When I rang my local council to ask about permission for replacing my drive which involved replacing an existing paved areas and removing an area of grass about the size of a small car, they said as long as it was porous block paving then I was fine and they didn't need to get involved.
Several people have asked if im happy with the job and I have said to all of them "Ill tell you in 5 years time if it still looks as good"0 -

You made the choice, you're an adult, take responsibility.
Well they've run off after doing a shoddy job, very shoddy.
Yet they were back today? Sounds like they run very far...
From afar it looks fine, people have already complimented me on it.
Wonderful
But I can see it falling it apart soon from the front edge when I finally bring my car into the drive..
Has it? I bought my house and expected my garage roof to fall apart, 6 years later its still there, solid, stable and watertight. I'll probably get another 5-10 years out of it.indianabones wrote: »Appears to be laid properly on the flat portions. But my gut feeling is that they've put in too much of the sandy middle layer which is above the sub-base.
Good old "gut feeling". Must be wonderful to have such a strong "gut feeling" to guide you in life, instead of, you know, pesky facts.
I'm guessing at the moment, but will need some quotes first.
I'm guessing your a nightmare client...don't take it personaly, It's just a guessindianabones wrote: »I managed to lie my way into getting them to fix it.
What a wonderful human you are!indianabones wrote: »1. Give me money back for the labour involved to remove the bricks and relay them properly.
Have you identified and actual problem yet? or is your "gut" telling you their wrong?
2. Remove the bricks and material. Pay me for getting someone to relay the bricks.
So you want their labor for removal AND them to pay you?
3. Go away, never come back to my house and let the legal process give me the money for the poor job you've done.
Again, good luck here, im sure the judge will lvoe to hear about how your gut things the job is poor. In fact, I beleive "gut feeling" has now overtaken forensics are the most reliable evidence source.

If I was your contractor, I'd probably be doing the same to fair
Comments in red. I'm sure there are plenty of cowboys out there and I've seen some terrible drive, but so far you've given absolutely nothing to suggest that this one of them0 -

Have you seen the pics?
Today I drove my Nissan Qashqai over the edge onto the drive and the bricks that it passed over went in and the bricks the car is on right now are lower than the surrounding ones.
I've had 2 guys comes out today and these guys have said that the drive will need to be lowered completely because my air vents are covered partially.
I will take some more pics so people are aware of the many faults.
Btw, I have taken responsibility and will be paying to get it sorted out, so there's no need for some of your poorly placed comments.0 -

To save on costs, a brick is 80p, how many would have been needed here? Less than £10.

I really don't understand why people have to come online and post completely unhelpful replies like this.
People make mistakes, you learn from them. I will learn from mine too.
In my case I decided to cut my losses, end all communication with them today and move on to some other professionals - I hope anyway.
I told them I don't have the confidence in them to do the job properly and I believe I am justified.0
